How the Project Began

The Mediterranean Mom started with a simple vision: share Mediterranean-style cooking that works for real families. The founder wanted a space that felt calm, encouraging, and doable for anyone trying to eat well without adding stress to their week. When she came to us, she had the message, the recipes, and the mission—but no brand system, no site structure, and no way to grow an audience. Our job was to build the entire digital home from the ground up.

From the start, we guided the design direction, the site structure, the email funnel, and the long-term setup for search and growth. Every decision—from color choices to the way recipe steps were written—was shaped to support her message: simple food, made for real life.

Shaping the Visual Identity

One of the earliest steps was setting a visual language she could use everywhere. She chose a hand-painted watercolor lemon as the heart of the brand. From there, we developed a warm palette built around soft yellow, deep green, sand, and clean off-white tones. These colors needed to work in recipe posts, lifestyle photos, email marketing, and future print materials.

Typography was chosen with readability in mind. Allura gave the project a friendly touch for headers, while Nunito Sans kept the body text clean and easy on the eyes. Even small things—letter spacing, paragraph spacing, mobile line height—were fine-tuned so the site would feel comfortable to read.

The logo was created in Canva, but the full identity system was shaped to stay consistent across every platform she uses. This avoids the “new brand, old graphics” problem that often happens when creators juggle multiple tools.

Building the Website

The website was built on Squarespace 7.1. She needed a platform she could manage on her own, and Squarespace gave her that freedom. Our role was to design the entire site structure, create the layout system, build custom templates, and make sure everything loaded cleanly on phones.

We designed a navigation that feels simple to move through:

  • Home

  • About

  • Getting Started

  • Recipes

  • Lifestyle Blog

  • MM+ (future membership landing page)

Each page has a purpose. The Home page introduces her in a personal way without getting long-winded. The About page explains her “Mediterranean-ish” approach. The Getting Started page gives newcomers a place to understand the basics. The Recipe and Lifestyle sections were built to grow with her over time.

The recipe template was a priority. Most readers cook from their phones, so the layout had to make sense in real-time cooking. We formatted ingredients with tighter spacing, clear step markers, optional swaps, and small notes that sound like her voice. The Lifestyle Blog uses similar spacing and structure to keep the whole site consistent.

Designing for Search Growth

Before any content went live, we built a full SEO plan. It centered on search terms tied to Mediterranean recipes, family cooking, and beginner nutrition guidance. Each page was set up with:

  • Focused metadata

  • A clean URL format

  • Proper heading structure

  • Clear alt text patterns

  • Recipe formatting built for long-term search performance

This means she doesn’t have to “start over” later. As she publishes more recipes, the site already gives her the best chance to grow naturally.

Creating the Lead Magnet and Email Funnel

Audience growth needed to start on day one. we designed her 20-page Mediterranean Diet starter guide in Figma. The guide includes a simple food pyramid graphic, shopping basics, and tips for easing into the lifestyle without pressure.

MailerLite manages delivery and the follow-up sequence. We placed opt-in points across the site in high-traffic areas, including recipe posts and the Getting Started section. Anyone who signs up gets the PDF immediately and enters a short welcome series that introduces her voice and her recipes.

Preparing for MM+ (Membership)

Even though her membership isn’t ready to launch, we laid the groundwork now so she isn’t rebuilding later. We created a simple landing page, a waitlist form, and an automated reply inside MailerLite. When she’s ready to release her paid tier, her structure is already set and can expand into private pages and premium content.

Making the Brand Easy to Maintain

Creators burn out when they don’t have systems. To avoid that, we built a small library of templates and reusable blocks she can pull from:

  • Blog formatting guidelines

  • Recipe layout structure

  • Brand colors and type settings

  • Email templates to keep her campaigns consistent

These pieces help her stay consistent without overthinking every new post.

What This Build Achieved

Today, The Mediterranean Mom has a full, cohesive brand and a website that feels personal without being cluttered. She can publish a recipe in minutes, send email updates with ease, and grow her audience using systems that don’t drain her time. Her subscriber list increases every day because the lead magnet flows naturally with her content.

The site is also ready for future revenue. When she’s ready to add ads, affiliates, or membership content, the structure already supports it.

Closing Thoughts

This project gave her a real platform to grow from—something that reflects her voice and supports her goals without extra friction. We guided every part of the process: branding, site build, layout design, structure planning, email systems, template creation, and long-term growth strategy.

If you want to see the finished product in action, take a minute to explore her site at https://www.themediterraneanmom.com/. She puts in the work, shares recipes that make sense for busy family life, and shows how approachable the Mediterranean Diet can be when someone explains it well. Her content is thoughtful, steady, and grounded in real habits rather than extremes, and the site gives her the space to share that clearly.
